New Team

Team Camp. It's a time to get new clothes, new bikes, and new teammates. It's a time to take pictures-a lot of pictures. It's a time to meet and say thank you to the sponsors. It's a time to see how everyone is riding and how training is coming along. And for me, this year, it's a chance to learn about really cool people overcoming an illness, excelling, and inspiring others to do the same.

My new team for 2009 is Team Type 1, and it's amazing. I have learned so much about living with Diabetes, managing Diabetes on a daily if not hourly basis and I'm inspired. My teammates are cool and all the people involved in the organization are wonderful.
This is going to be a fantastic year. I'm excited (though I do have to wait until the end of March to officially "bring it" at Redlands).

Full mOOn #2

Fun full mOOn activity #2 was Nordic skiing at Devil's Thumb. More specifically, skate skiing since I don't know how to "classic ski".

Again, it was with my best riding buddy, Megan and her Man Brian. Though I am pretty sure she has been elevated to my best "do anything" buddy.

It was again super fun. Though we never saw the mOOn due to cloud cover it was an interesting adventure and one that definitely needs repeating.

Food fuels big rides

I have 2 fun new hobbies. AND it just so happens they compliment each other quite nicely.

Well, they are not 2 totally brand new hobbies. I have considered
my bike riding and racing as a hobby for several years now and
I have always enjoyed baking and making breads and cookies.

I have now, however, taken each one to a new level.

With fresh "no flour" peanut butter cookies and Fougasse bread in my pocket, I rode with some friends up a steep, steep, steep ass climb outside of Boulder, on my singlespeed cross bike.

At the end of the ride, I needed MUCH MORE than just some cookies and bread. So, up next is chocolate cake...with frosting.
It'll be interesting to see how I'll fit that in my pocket.
